View of area “B” which is situated on the western edge of the citadel (upper tell) of Hazor. This view is looking southwest.
Most of the structures in this area are from the time of Solomon and his successors. The fortress in this area was finally destroyed by the Assyrian Tiglath–pileser III in 733 B.C.
The large wall on the left (south) side of the image is from a fortress constructed during the days of the Israelite king Ahab (874–853 B.C.). Just above the center of the image, the remains of a staircase are visible.
