View looking east. On the left (north) is the Düden Waterfalls of the Düden River. In antiquity it was known as Katarraktes.
In the distance, notice the "finger" of land that stretches from above the center of the picture to the right (south)—into the Mediterranean Sea. On the other side of this peninsula is where Magydus, the ancient harbor of Perga was located. It is probable that Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark, coming from Paphos on Cyprus, landed here and then proceeded by foot 8.5 miles inland to Perga (Acts 13:13).
