View of a beautifully carved basalt column base brought to light during the excavations of Robert Braidwood at Tell Tayinat. A large cedar column would have been placed on top of this base.
Note the details of the pair of lions: the claws (and nails), the mouths with fangs, the beards, noses, eyes, and manes!
