View of the Odeum from the south looking north from the State Agora.
The Odeum was located on the upper portion of Ephesus, quite a distance east of the Theater. It was built about A.D. 100. It seated about 1,400 people (compare the Theater). As an Odeum it was probably covered and used for lectures and concerts. It may have also served as a bouleuterion, that is a council chamber.
