View of the interior of the Odeum at Ephesus. The Odeum was located on the upper portion of Ephesus, quite a distance east of the Theater. It was built about A.D. 100. It seated about 1,400 people. Compare the Theater that could seat 24,000. As an Odeum it was probably covered and used for lectures and concerts. It may have also served as a bouleuterion, that is a council chamber.
The grass in the upper left portion of the image, beyond the colonnaded street, is a small portion of the "State Agora."
