View looking south at the amphitheater. It is 460 feet long and 385 feet wide. In the center is a rectangular pit that is connected to the south end by an underground corridor. This was used for the introduction of scenery and animals into the area.
The seats, carved into "living rock," are visible in the picture as are the aisles between the various sections (cunei). The amphitheater may have been constructed in the late first century B.C.
