The Hasmoneans were the descendants of the Maccabees that led the Jewish stated from 142 to 67 B.C. It is very possible that Jesus appeared before Herod Antipas (Luke 23:7–12)—the ruler of Galilee who was in Jerusalem for the Passover—here on the night prior to his crucifixion.
No certain archaeological remains of this palace have been found.
