View of area “B” that is situated on the western edge of the citadel (upper tell) of Hazor. This view is looking west.
Most of the structures in this area are from the time of Solomon and his successors. The fortress in this area was finally destroyed by the Assyrian Tiglath–pileser III in 733 B.C.
Just below the center of the image, an unusual standing stone is visible (phallic in shape?). This level, and this object, is evidently to be dated to the Late Bronze or Early Iron Ages—the period of the Judges when Hazor was under Canaanite control.
