View looking west from the acropolis of Gadara along one of its main streets. The street is paved with black basalt stones and white columns are visible along both of its sides.
There is debate regarding the “name” of the street. This seems to be the main street of Gadara, thus it should be called the “cardo,” but usually the “cardo” is a north–south street, while this one is east–west. Thus, some call it the “Decumanus Maximus” which is usually the second main street of the city.
