View looking southwest. On the right side of the image the line of stones marks the northern breakwater of the ancient harbor, while just left of center, the southern breakwater is visible as it projects into the sea.
Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark set sail from this harbor as they began “Paul’s First Missionary Journey” (Acts 13:4).
This harbor was very important during the Seleucid/Ptolemaic era, and was later the home of a Roman fleet of ships.
