Looking down into the orchestra area of the theater (the semicircular area. On the straight wall on the far side of the orchestra is where the stage area was. Note the four columns in the center of the image. This is where the Imperial Tribune (royal seating) was located — probably the re–erected columns supported a shade canopy.
Four "wedge–shaped" portions (cunei) of the theater are visible—two on the right, the others on the left.
On the left side of the orchestra is the area where the "god–fearers" inscription is located. Click Here to view this very important inscription.
This theater was originally built in the fourth century B.C. It was restored and modified by the Romans and in its final form was able to accommodate 15,000 people.
