View looking southwest, down on to the orchestra and the stage areas of the theater. Originally rituals and dramas were performed in the orchestra area, but eventually a two-story stage was built. The first level of this stage (left – south side of the image) is very well–preserved and it would have been upon this platform that plays were performed during the Roman Period.
