View looking southwest at the circular Temple of Asclepius (the god of healing) and beyond it the large courtyard of the Asclepion.
Only the foundation of the temple is preserved. It was donated by Lucius Rufinus around A.D. 150 and was modeled after the Pantheon in Rome. It is about 78 ft. in diameter and contained statues of Asclepius and other healing deities.
