A view of the central open space in the Peristyle Courtyard during a rainstorm.

Notice the beautiful "veined" column in the foreground.

The Peristyle Courtyard is almost square (53 x 56 feet) and was open to the sky in the center and surrounded on all four sides by covered porticos.  Most of the flooring is reconstructed based upon the pattern of the original flooring.

The "Peristyle House with Church" is located south of the Large/North Theater;  It seems to have been constructed in the 3rd-century AD and was destroyed in the earthquake during the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Focas (AD 602-610).
