View looking northwest at the western half of the Solomonic Gate that is located on the southern side of Gezer.  The drain, begins on the right (north) side of the image and flows to a point outside of the city.  While the gate was in use, the drain was covered with paving stones upon which traffic entered the city.

The female student in the left side of the image is standing in the first of the three chambers on the west side of the the gate.  The student in the gray shirt is in the central chamber, and the student in the maroon shirt is in the third chamber of the gate.

Traffic would have entered the city from the lower portion of the image, and proceeded, from the bottom to the upper right portion of the image on a paved street above the covered drain.

Compare a very similar Solomonic Gate found at Hazor as well as the  “four–room gate” found at Beersheba.
