View looking north at the paved ancient road that connected the theater (upper left) with the harbor of Assos. On the left of the road note the drain for water. At the upper end of the road note the arched entrance way that leads to the vaulted passageway.
The apostle Paul may have walked on the road at the end of his walk from Alexandria Troas to Assos. It was here at Assos that he reconnected with his party and set sail for Mitylene.
