The Entrance to the Temple

Looking north through the southern entrance of the Late Roman Temple in Antioch on the Orontes, you can see a ramp at the center of the image leading into the inner temple area, which is now filled with olive trees.

To the left, there are two distinct walls:

1. The outer foundation wall of the Temple Platform, preserved to an impressive height of 15 feet. This wall is constructed using opus caementicium (Roman concrete), incorporating pebble stones and cement mortar.
2. The inner wall, which adds to the structural depth of the temple complex.

The outer foundation wall of the Temple Platform is preserved to a height of 15 feet!  It is built of opus caementicium (roman concrete) with pebble stones and cement mortar.
