View looking east at the "first century" synagogue that was discovered at Magdala. The entrance was from the west, in the foreground of the picture.
The "broad room" just beyond the entrance is thought to be a "study room" of the synagogue.
Note the low benches around the synagogue.
The unique stone box in the center of the image is thought by some to be a "table" on top of which the Torah scroll was placed for reading.
